Ashley Noda of Roseville lost to T.J. Kliebphipat of Panorama City 1-up Thursday in the 2008 California Junior Girls State Golf Championship final in Pebble Beach. In the semifinals, Noda defeated Haley Andreas of Pacific Grove 1-up, and Kliebphipat beat Emily Talley of Napa 1-up.
In the Helen Lengfeld flight, Casie Cathrea of Livermore defeated Lauren Kim of Los Altos 2-up.

Sacramento State coach John Smith added Menlo College graduate Reggie Christiansen to his staff. Christiansen, who was South Dakota State's head coach for four seasons, will serve as the Hornets' recruiting coordinator and hitting instructor.
