Word on the street says Golden State Warriors coach Don Nelson has been seen at Chris Webber's Natomas restaurant, Center Court with C-Webb, twice recently. That only could mean Webber and Nelson are considering the completion of the ultimate full circle and a Webber return to Golden State.

They beefed big-time 14 years ago while both were with the Warriors, but perhaps it is true that time heals all wounds, even gashes.

Stay tuned. With agent Aaron Goodwin representing Gary Payton as well as Webber, could the former Skyline High School (Oakland) guard be far behind? Baron Davis, one of the league's best point guards, needs rest, and Payton surely could fill that backup role.

Hoop, hoop, hooray!

For me, not much beats high school hoops. So attending the Common Good Classic at Del Oro on Saturday and the fifth annual Hoops for Homeless Families Classic at Capital Christian on Monday was all good.

Of the 15 games played, I saw 12. Some were great, others were good, none were ugly.

It's important to keep high school games in perspective. High school sports has become big business, especially when it relates to major-college prospects.

Players competed as they should – as if the game they were playing was their last.

I missed the early Oakmont-Center game in the Common Good tourney, but Vikings 6-foot-6 senior Milos Milosevic was a beast around the basket in an overtime victory against the Cougars, who had played an OT game the prior night.

Del Campo's 6-foot guard, Jordan Langley, was the most impressive player on the floor in his team's victory over Woodcreek. Langley is smart and rarely, if ever, tried to play outside his game. Roseville upset Bella Vista, which had pulled off a road victory earlier in the week over highly ranked Rio Americano. Roseville's Mikey Elliott and Kevin Crabb were standouts for the Tigers. I still couldn't help but wonder how much better they'd be with former Roseville star Elston Turner Jr., who is playing his senior season in the Houston area.

If there is a better coach in the area than Colfax's Ron Pucci, observers will be hard-pressed to prove it. In the few games I've seen his team play, the guy makes adjustments with the best of them, and his squad has impressed. Colfax's 6-4 Scott Krizman has a free ride awaiting him at San Diego.

The centerpiece game between Rocklin and El Camino didn't disappoint. Rocklin's Brendan Lane was the man in the Thunder's victory, but El Camino's Andy Shannon, 6-foot-10, also was impressive.

Juawnn Springfield can be wild but has no fear. Include solid Will Olsem with smooth 6-7 swingman Kyle Baxter, and El Camino coach Justin Clymo has a crew to be reckoned with in the playoffs. And that's before – and if – Caleb Johnson returns from a knee injury. I have yet to see him, but the word is the kid can go.

I had to roll before the Natomas-Del Oro game, so catching up with the Nighthawks and Golden Eagles is a priority.

I'll give my impressions of the Hoops for Homeless Families Classic next week.

Broadcast news

The plan for Sunday's "Talking Smack with Marty Mac" radio show from 8 to 10 a.m. on KHTK (1140 AM) is to use the second hour to get interaction on the late Ernest Lee, one of Sacramento's best high school players. And that comes from a wide number of folks, including former NBA All-Star Kevin Johnson, who hipped me to Lee's talents and skills.
