Cadets from the California Highway Patrol Academy braved the bad air Saturday to perform a good deed by sprucing up the Sacramento Area Emergency Housing Center in south Sacramento.
The cadets spent the day painting, planting and making other improvements at the center.
The academy's 27-week instructional program includes a community project, which helps reinforce the CHP's mission of providing service and contributing to the public good.
