Starting in September, the city will start inspecting rental properties to ensure they meet city safety requirements.
A news release issued Thursday said the city hopes to complete the first round of inspections within five years.
Inspectors will examine the exteriors and interiors of rental units. Owners will have 30 days to fix violations or they will be charged more fees.
