Local board-certified dermatologists will offer free skin cancer screenings at three locations in the Sacramento region in the coming week.
The Skin Cancer Foundation is hosting the full-body skin cancer screenings, which will take place in the foundation's Road to Healthy Skin Tour RV, a foundation news release states.
Three local doctors will perform the screenings, which take about five minutes.
The screening schedule is:
10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Rite Aid, 446 Roseville Square, Roseville. Dr. Alan Semion.
9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Sunday, Rite Aid, 1617 Douglas Blvd., Roseville, CA 95661. Dr. Gregory Bricca will be conducting the screenings.
* 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Rite Aid, Lake Crest Village, 980 Florin Road, Sacramento. Dr. Andrea Wiley.
Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the U.S., according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. More than one million cases of skin cancer are diagnosed each year. Most forms of skin cancer can be cured, the CDC states.
Skin cancer also is one of the most preventable forms of cancer if detected early.
The Skin Cancer Foundation's tour will visit more than 50 cities at 100 locations throughout the nation to educate people about annual skin checks and sun safety.
The foundation expects to screen more than 10,000 people during the tour, the release states.
The screenings are sponsored by AVEENO and Rite Aid.
