The county is looking at three new sites for an inmate re-entry facility after residents of Dunnigan and Zamora protested building it near their rural communities.
State corrections officials now believe other sites would be more suitable, the county said Wednesday in a written statement.
The other sites are near Madison and Esparto and the Yolo County Airport, northwest of Davis. The supervisors will consider the proposed sites Sept. 9.
The proposed facility is part of a plan by state officials to reintroduce offenders into their communities and reduce the number of parolees returning to prison.
Twelve counties are in line to receive a total of $750 million in jail construction funds in exchange for hosting the facilities.
Yolo County stands to gain $30 million for jail expansion if it meets a mid-September deadline to identify sites.
