ROSEMONT -- A 31-year-old woman broadsided a Sacramento City Unified School Police officer's car early Sunday and then tried to flee in her 2005 Mercedes S500, officials said Sunday.
Schools police chief Vince Matranga said the officer was finishing his shift about 2:25 a.m. when the woman ran a stop light at Kiefer Boulevard and Southport Drive and hit his car.
The officer's cruiser came to a stop about 100 feet from the intersection. The Mercedes stalled, but the woman started the car again and took off, Matranga said.
The officer, who was not seriously injured, got on the radio and called for backup. California Highway Patrol officers found the woman standing outside her car a few hundred yards south of the crash scene on Southport Drive.
Matranga said the woman -- identified by the CHP as Tracy Susan Figueroa, 31 -- was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, and hit and run.
