Basketball Town, a 50,000-square-foot sports complex in Rancho Cordova that offered basketball camps run by Sacramento Kings players and others, is going out of business today because of mounting legal costs from a disabled-access lawsuit, a spokeswoman said.
In November, the facility was sued by Derrick Ross, a Suisun City man who filed similar lawsuits against two Northern California businesses in the last two years over Americans with Disabilities Act compliance issues.
"We've all been in tears today," Crystal Chodes, director of marketing and special events for Basketball Town, said Saturday.
Chodes said Basketball Town will complete a previously scheduled tournament around 6 p.m. today.
After that, employees will begin cleaning out their desks and moving furniture from the building, she said.
