SACRAMENTO Eddie Houston Jr., a street gangster whose house allegedly yielded the largest crack cocaine seizure in Sacramento history, pleaded guilty Monday in federal court to conspiracy to possess, distribute and manufacture the drug.
Houston, 35, supplied dealers who sold it to street-level peddlers and users in Del Paso Heights, Meadowview and Oak Park neighborhoods, as well as in the Dos Rios public housing complex in downtown Sacramento, according to Assistant U.S. Attorney Anne Pings.
When federal narcotics agents and police officers raided his South Natomas house a year ago, they found 7 pounds of crack and 2 pounds of powder.
The agents identified Houston as a member of the Bloods street gang and said the crack, worth $250,000 on the street, was Sacramento's largest seizure.
The agents and officers also recovered $12,000 cash that Houston had on him when he was stopped a few blocks away in a Jaguar.
After reading Houston his rights, the agents asked if he had anything to say.
"No, it's over, it's a wrap," he said. "This is life. I'm never coming home." He was right, to the extent the maximum for his crimes is life in prison without the possibility of parole. He is scheduled to be sentenced May 12.
