Over fits of a Delta breeze, pleasantly warm weather will make for an ideal Mother's Day.
Enjoy it, though, because temperatures are expected to rise during the week and could hit triple-digits for the first time this year, perhaps on Thursday.
Today's weather will hover around a high of 79 degrees, with southwest winds between 11 and 17 miles-per-hour, according to the National Weather Service. Overnight temperatures are expected to drop to around 49 degrees. A Delta breeze swooped into the region late Saturday night and will keep temperatures in the pleasant range Sunday, said weather service forecaster Johnnie Powell.
"But we're right about where we're supposed to be," he said.
Powell forecasted temperatures to gradually rise each day through the week ahead.
Highs on Monday are expected to reach 84 degrees; 88 on Tuesday. On Wednesday the high is due to be 94.
And then, 100 degrees "or close to that," Powell said, on Thursday. Forecasters are eyeballing that day to mark the hottest day of the year so far.
"That's exciting," Powell said Sunday.
Temperatures are then expected to remain in the 90s through Friday and Saturday.
