SACRAMENTO Officials are investigating an accident that killed a Rancho Cordova motorcyclist Tuesday morning.
Norman Deguzman, who would have turned 37 today, was riding his BMW motorcycle west on Grant Line Road about 6:45 a.m. when a 20-year-old Sloughhouse man in a Toyota Prius pulled onto the road, said California Highway Patrol Officer Michael Bradley.
The Prius was northbound on Sloughhouse Road and stopped at the intersection.
The driver didn't see the motorcyclist before turning onto the roadway, Bradley said. When he did, he tried to speed up and swerve to miss him, but Deguzman hit the Prius on the passenger side, Bradley said.
Emergency personnel performed CPR at the scene, but Deguzman was declared dead at the scene.
"It appears to be just a right-of-way violation," Bradley said.
The driver could face vehicular manslaughter charges depending on the outcome of the investigation, he said.
