Elk Grove police arrested a 16-year-old boy Wednesday in connection with an incident in which a bottle filled with chlorine was thrown into an ice cream truck, injuring the driver.
The boy was taken into custody around 11:20 a.m., after his mother brought him to the Elk Grove Police Department. He was arrested on suspicion of possessing and exploding a destructive device with intent to injure, according to Officer Christopher Trim, spokesman for the Elk Grove police.
Trim said the boy was taken to juvenile hall.
A 50-year-old ice cream vendor on June 4 was making a sale at Shasta Lily Drive and Blue Maiden Way when a group of juveniles on bicycles threw a water bottle inside his truck. The driver suffered mild skin irritation and a small abrasion on his hand, according to police.
A 14-year-old boy was arrested last week for the incident and faces the same charges.
