Several thousand northern Californians are expected to meet at the west steps of the State Capitol 1 p.m. Sunday to celebrate 60 years of Israeli independence.
The "Salute to Israel" marks the 60th anniversary of the founding of the state of Israel. Along with Israel's history, diversity, dance, food and achievements, the event will feature Israeli hip-hop artist SHI 360 with New Jersey-based hip-hop artist Kosha Dillz, said event organizer Noam Harel. "It is wonderful that so many people throughout our region attend this event and demonstrate their support for Israel. I am proud that the Jewish Federation of the Sacramento Region is putting together the largest 'Salute to Israel' event in our history," said Dana Edelstein, President of the Jewish Federation.
"We hope to turn out hundreds of Pro-Israel Evangelical Christians," Pastor Victor Styrsky, California Director of Christians United For Israel, said in a statement. "We are proud to attend this amazing event, 'Salute to Israel,' and to show our unquestioned and unconditional support for Israel and the world."
