Two men arrested in connection with May 5 shooting

Detectives in the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department Major Crimes and Gang Suppression Unit have arrested two men in connection with the May 5 shooting death of 27-year-old Johnny Brinsfield.
Brinsfield was shot inside a car that had just pulled into a parking space in front of a liquor store in the 2400 block of Marconi Avenue. He was riding in the passenger seat, and authorities said they believe he had a "verbal altercation" with two men just before he was shot. Detectives also believe the shooting was gang related.
The two men arrested are Pedro Alonzo Meza, 22, and Luis Alfredo Serrato, 21. Meza was arrested in a house in the 3000 block of Wright Street. Serrato was arrested in an apartment in the 3000 block of Howe Avenue.
Both men were booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on Friday. Meza was charged with murder, three counts of attempted murder, and participation in a criminal street gang. He is scheduled to be arraigned on May 12, 2008, at 1:30 p.m. Serrato was charged with murder, conspiracy, and participation in a criminal street gang.
