House passes freshman Rep. McNerney's first bill

WASHINGTON - Score one for the San Joaquin Valley freshman. In a choreographed move, the House on Thursday approved the first bill written by Rep. Jerry McNerney, D-Pleasanton. The bill could help local communities boost water supplies. It could also help McNerney position himself for re-election next year in cities like Tracy, Ripon and Manteca....(more)

Republican presidential candidate and former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney on Thursday announced a 27-member committee to mine for campaign cash in the Golden State. Romney, who appeared at a fundraiser and met with Republican lawmakers inSacramento on Wednesday, said in a statement that he hopes to connect in a lucrative way with the state "that showed great wisdom in sending Ronald Reagan to Sacramento and on to the White House."...(more)
