Don't try to save money by buying a bike that your child will "grow into." The lack of control or coordination with a bike that's too big may create a dangerous situation. And be aware that serious head injuries can result from falls occurring on driveways or paths close to home as easily as from accidents on busy streets. Start the mandatory helmet habit from the first day aboard the bike.
