The 2009 Sacramento County Master Gardener calendar is sure make you a better gardener.
Called "Savoring Home Grown: A year of vegetables and caring for your landscape," it's a gentle reminder each month of what to plant, what to trim, and generally what to do in the garden. If you've never gardened before, it's a blueprint that will take you through the seasons. And if you've been gardening for years, it will inspire you to try something new.
The calendar is available by mail for $14. Send a check, payable to "UC Regents," to Master Gardener Calendar, UC Cooperative Extension, 4145 Branch Center Road, Sacramento, CA 95827. Or drop by the UC Cooperative Extension office Monday through Friday and buy a calendar for $12. The office is closed from noon to 1 p.m. Many local nurseries also sell the calendar.
New this year is a set of 10 note cards, gardening themed, of course, and made from 100 percent recycled paper. The cards cost $14 per set by mail; $12 if purchased at the master gardener office.
