The Filthy Youth is an English indie punk band that is gaining momentum thanks to lead singer and lyricist Ed Westwick, also known as Chuck Bass on "Gossip Girl."

When I first heard of this actor-singer's band, I thought it would be just another mindless group put together by a bored celebrity. But I found passion behind the music.

Westwick is a talent on the small screen and behind a microphone.

The Filthy Youth is edgy, confident and mind-blowing. The band brings a new sound to punk rock and creates music that has an element of closeness that makes the listener feel connected, almost as if in a garage listening to the band's practice.

The Filthy Youth shows strong promise and will make a huge impact on the world of music.

Check the band's MySpace page and listen to two of my favorites, "Le Soleil" and "Orange." Songs sure to impress.
