In need of help: Animal Rescue League is a nonprofit organization with a "no kill" philosophy for the creatures that it shelters. The group cares for stray, abused and abandoned animals, primarily cats, until they are adopted. It relies on donations, grants and volunteers, and has no paid employees.
Among the animals that ARL recently rescued is a tuxedo cat named Gavin who needs costly veterinary care. The cat suffered deep wounds on all four paws and a serious fungal infection.
What they need: ARL is seeking a part-time veterinarian to help care for its rescue animals. People also can support ARL by donating Wal-Mart, Target or Petco gift cards or sponsoring an animal for $450 for one year.

• Don't use all capital letters. That's akin to yelling and not appreciated by the audience.

You are more likely to see inappropriate comments before our staff does, so we ask that you click the "report abuse" button to submit those comments for moderator review. You also may notify us via email at feedback@sacbee.com. Note the headline on which the comment is made and tell us the profile name of the user who made the comment. Remember, comment moderation is subjective. You may find some material objectionable that we won't and vice versa.
