AUBURN Sentencing for two men who agreed to plea bargains in the drive-by shootings of animals in rural Lincoln in October was postponed Wednesday in Placer Superior Court.
The attorney for one of the defendants was unavailable, as was the judge, Colleen Nichols. Retired Judge James Garbolino rescheduled the sentencing date to May 16.
Defendant Collin Lovejoy, 18, of Lincoln pleaded no contest to nine counts of felony animal cruelty and could face a maximum of eight years and four months in state prison, according to prosecutor Jeff Wilson.
The co-defendant, Timothy Schulz, 18, also of Lincoln, pleaded guilty to three counts of felony animal cruelty and faces up to one year in the county jail, Wilson said.
