So far this decade, wages in the Sacramento Region have been stagnant -- they've kept pace with inflation, and not done much else. But some jobs are bucking that trend. Also, even in these tough times, some job sectors are expected to add more employees than others. Use this tool to find the Sacramento region's fastest-growing -- and best-paying -- jobs.

Notes: Figures are for Sacramento, Yolo, El Dorado and Placer counties. A small amount of data were missing or incomplete; that's why some fields are blank. "Fastest growing jobs" measures percent change in total positions; "Most job openings" measures the number of job vacancies -- some jobs with high predicted turnover will show slow growth but still have a high number of openings. In general, the more employees a particular occupation has, the less prone the figures for that job are to sampling error. The job outlook figures came from the state EDD's "Projections of Employment by Industry and Occupation, 2004-2014." The wage information came from the EDD's "Wages and Employment by Occupation." Data for the rest of the state can be found at the EDD's labor statistics web site.
