Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger will visit the command center and evacuation shelter for the Marek Fire in the Angeles National Forest this morning as firefighters continue working to contain the massive blaze fueled by Santa Ana winds.
The governor will meet with fire officials and address reporters during his morning visit to the blaze that threatens part of the San Fernando Valley, north of Los Angeles. He declared a state of emergency Monday in Los Angeles and Ventura Counties and encouraged local residents to heed evacuation orders.
California is bracing for another difficult fire season after a dry summer that prompted Schwarzenegger to declare a drought emergency.
