Vice President Dick Cheney will be in the Sacramento area on Friday for a late-afternoon fundraiser for Rep. Dan Lungren, R-Gold River. The event, billed as "an evening of Western hospitality," will be held at a private residence in Wilton.
Lungren is running for a third term representing the 3rd Congressional District.
The White House said Cheney will fly to Sacramento after attending a reception for U.S. Senate candidate Bob Schaffer, a Colorado Republican, in Grand Junction. After the Lungren event, Cheney will fly to Jackson Hole, Wyo., where he will spend the night, the White House said.
Lungren is likely to face Democrat Bill Durston of Gold River in the November general election, a rematch of their 2006 contest in which Lungren was re-elected by a 59-38 percent margin.
