With the local auto industry showing signs of revival, the Sacramento International Auto Show starts its three-day run today at Cal Expo.

Two years ago at the Los Angeles Auto Show, there were audible chuckles among hundreds of media representatives when Ford Motor Co. Chief Executive Alan Mulally said the automaker was on target to return to consistent profitability by 2009.

Bob Swift, owner-operator of Swift Dodge Sacramento and the son of an iconic local car dealer, died Wednesday morning at his El Dorado County home, apparently from a self-inflicted gunshot.
