Amidst evergreen forests and rough terrain is the spot where author Robert Louis Stevenson spent his honeymoon in 1880. Although the cabin is gone, its site is marked along the five-mile trail to the summit of Mount St. Helena. From the top of the mountain, visitors can see the Bay Area and, on good days, Mount Shasta, 192 miles to the north.

Climate
The park is at its best in the spring and fall. In the winter, the vistas are at their best, but there is also a risk of cold winds and snow.
