Are you a Bee subscriber?

If you are currently a VIP Club member, you do not need to go through the registration process -- you are already signed up!

If you have not yet signed up for VIP Club, but you are a Bee subscriber, you will need to register. Once you have registered, you automatically will be enrolled in VIP Club.

Frequently asked questions about site registration

1. Why does sacbee.com now require registration to access certain sections of the sites?

In the ongoing quest to better serve you better, registration at sacbee.com will enable The Bee to know and understand who you are. As a result, we will be better able to provide an enhanced and relevant user experiences for all of the site visitors.

Specifically, this means sacbee.com will be able to provide customized information for you -- content from our newsroom and other sources (such as advertisements, wire stories, and links to other information as appropriate). Like other Web publishers, we're collecting information from visitors in order to deliver targeted editorial and advertising content that would be of interest to you. By knowing just a little bit about you, we can begin building our site so that it's more informative and tailored to your interests. In addition, we can better define our customer base, making our site an attractive advertising option for advertisers.

No. It's free and simple. It takes less than three minutes to complete.

3. If you are customizing your content to me, does this mean that I don't get to see some of your site?

No. As long as you are registered, you will have full access to all areas of sacbee.com. Customizing the content means that we make easily available to you the kind of content and advertising that would be of most interest to you.

4. How will registration change the way I use sacbee.com?

Once you have completed the simple one-time registration, you receive instant access to all areas of the sites without needing to register again. The navigation and formats of the sites will remain unchanged.

5. I am a registered user (VIP Club, newsletters, other products), so why am I being asked to register again?

Even though you have signed up as a VIP Club member, or if you have signed up to receive any of the sacbee.com electronic newsletters, the required registration data differs and you will need to re-register to continue to gain access to these sections. Where possible, data that you have already submitted for previous registrations automatically will populate the new registration fields to make it more convenient for you.

6. Are there any sections that do not require registration?

You can view the top-level page of any of sacbee.com section. However, if you want to click through and read an entire story, you must register. Registration will not be required to access any of the public shopping sections such as all Classified sections (autos, real estate, jobs, stuff) and affiliated Classified partners (cars.com, New Home Network, Apartments.com, CityFeet.com, etc.). Unregistered access also includes the retail shopping channel (sacbee.com/shopping), as well as the weather and traffic pages. Additionally, access to Sacramento.com, The Sacramento Bee's local search Web site, will not require registration.

7. How will my registration information be used?

In the coming months, your registration information will be used to tailor the news, information and advertising to you based on your profile, your interests and needs. By offering you a more personal and relevant experience, we hope you will continue to find additional value in sacbee.com. Secondly, we want to meet the needs of our advertisers so that they will find our sites an effective and valuable advertising outlet. By capturing information about our customers, we give our advertisers a better understanding of who is viewing their messages. But your personal information is never shared.

8. Will you sell or share my personal information?

The Sacramento Bee is committed to respecting the privacy rights of our visitors. Your personal information will not be sold or shared. If you signed up for any of the newsletters during the registration process, or have previously, you will receive the requested newsletters as per the schedules indicated. You may also receive e-mails about various products or services that we believe may be of interest to you, including e-mails that may contain third party advertising content.

10. How do I know my registration has been confirmed?

Once you have completed the registration process, you will receive an automatic e-mail confirming the completion of registration.

11. Will my registration ever expire?

No.

12. Do I need to update my registration information if I move?

It is recommended that you update your registration if your personal information changes.

13. How do I change or update my registration information?

14. I forgot my username or password. What do I do?

Visit the http://www.sacbee.com/reg-bin/int.cgi?mode=request_password to get your password sent to you.

15. Do subscribers receive any special benefits when registering at sacbee.com and SacTicket.com?

Both subscribers and non-subscribers have full access to all information available at sacbee.com. Bee subscribers have free membership to The Sacramento Bee VIP Club with exclusive benefits such as coupons, special tours, merchandise, and other benefits. 16. How do I subscribe or unsubscribe to a newsletter?

You can sign up for any of the sacbee.com newsletters by selecting the appropriate fields during the registration process. Or sign up by visiting this page. You can unsubscribe from any newsletter by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the newsletter.
