In 1850, Elk Grove consisted of a stage stop and hotel 15 miles south of Sacramento.
Today, Elk Gove/Laguna is a burgeoning family community with everything from a Strauss festival to equestrian events.
The Strauss event attracts more than 40,000 to the 120-acre Elk Grove Park annually for a free evening of Strauss music and Viennese dance.
Elk Grove Park is complemented by 17 neighborhood parks. Together they provide access to boating, fishing, softball, baseball, soccer, bowling, tennis. swimming, horseshoes and equestrian events, both western and English.
A fast-growing and generally upscale community, Elk Grove/Laguna connects to Sacramento via both Interstate 5 and U.S. Highway 99. Cosumnes River College is located just four miles northwest of Elk Grove.
Areas of the community have a distinct rural flavor with some of the outlying neighborhoods offering homes with acreage with ample room for horses. Ample shopping is available.
