Jacob was the top name for baby boys in California during 2012, while Sophia replaced Isabella to claim the top girls' name.

The boys' names that saw the biggest jumps in popularity from 2009 to 2012 were Dylan, Logan and Mason. The fastest-rising girls names were Sophia and Emma.

And the name losing the most popularity over the past three years? Angel.
