Daniel remained the top name for baby boys in California during 2009, while Isabella moved up a spot from 2006 to claim the top girls' name, likely due to the fame of a certain 'Bella.

The boys' names that saw the biggest jumps in popularity from 2006 to 2009 were Aaden, Kingston and Urijah, possibly thanks to Sacramento's own Mr. Faber. The fastest-rising girls names were Khloe and Audrina, probably due to the stars of two reality shows. Also: Miley.

And the names losing the most popularity over the past three years? Oswaldo and Ashlee.

Updated Dec. 2010, this database shows the 1,000 most popular boys' names and 1,000 most popular girls' names in the state during 2009.
