In a volleyball season as tumultuous and unpredictable as 2009, The Bee's All-Metro teams honor those who meant the most to their schools on and off the court. Here you will find an eclectic blend of student athletes who filled up the stat sheets as well as those whose hard work and dedication were an inspiration to their teammates and peers alike.

Player of the Year: Kayla Berringer, Oak Ridge

Coach of the Year: Martin Soyama, El Camino

FIRST TEAM

Mary Clark, St. Francis, Junior, Middle Blocker
From all accounts, a coaches dream: Quick, agile, athletic and a tremendous work ethic. Was second only to teammate Zoe Nightingale in the Delta River League in hitting (.346), kills (368) and third in blocks (95) behind Nightingale and Kiki Kosler.
Erika Cuevas, Christian Brothers, Senior, Outside Hitter
Four-year player who started her final three, is the only player in area history to play in three state championship matches. One of the most charismatic players in the region put the exclamation point on each of her over 500 kills with her signature fist pump.
Sara Konkel, Pleasant Grove, Senior, Setter
Led an emerging Pleasant Grove program to the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I semifinals, nearly upsetting eventual NorCal finalist Oak Ridge. Will take her dynamic talents to Fordham (NYC) University on full scholarship next year.
Kyndall Kordakis, Union Mine, Senior, Libero
Made the floor tough to find for opposing attackers this season and is widely regarded by coaches and student-athletes as one of the area's finest defenders.
Abbie Miraldi, Nevada Union, Senior, Outside Hitter
Her play and leadership were a big reason the Miners reached their unprecedented eighth consecutive Sac-Joaquin Section Division I title match. The lone senior on the roster led the Miners in kills (329) and will play on scholarship next year at Cal State Fullerton alongside 2008 Bee Player of the Year Kayla Neto.
Zoe Nightingale, St. Francis, Junior, Middle Blocker
Along with teammate Mary Clark formed the most feared middle tandem in the area. The two-time reigning Delta River League Most Valuable Player led St. Francis in kills (415), blocks (195) and digs (428). Has already verbally committed to play for UCLA beginning in the fall of 2011.
Natalie Riddering, El Camino, Sophomore, Outside Hitter
Just a sophomore and already one of the most dynamic players in the area. Her 382 kills were third in the state among sophomores. Was named the Capital Athletic League's Most Valuable Player.
Corissa Santos, Rocklin, Senior, Right-side hitter
Was a big reason the Thunder rolled to a second consecutive Sierra Foothill League championship as she led the SFL in hitting with a .420 percentage.
