047 Sabrina Basin

Dave Henry
The massive color in the foreground and the peaks in the distance are one of those views of Sabrina Basin (stop 17 on the map) that really conveys the feeling of the high Sierra. This shot is best made in the morning just after the sun clears the ridge to the east. Note the little dusting of snow on the ground. This photo was made on October 7, 2010 with a Canon 24-105mm zoom lens set at 45mm on a Canon 5D MkII full frame sensor camera. The exposure was 1/80 sec. at f-8 using ISO 400 and a polarizing filter. For information on exposure, lighting, filters and composition, please check our Tips and Techniques section.
