116 Ice Grass

Bee/Dave Henry
When shooting Benwood Meadow in Christmas Valley (stop 1 on the map) I noticed frozen pools of water with frozen blades of grass sticking out. Each blade was caked with ice crystals. Since fall colored leaves were frozen in the water, I decided to include it in the gallery. Let your eyes notice everything and your mind receptive enough to allow you to shoot it. This photo was made on October 27, 2010 with a Canon 70-200mm zoom lens set at 100mm on a Canon 5D MkII full frame sensor camera. The exposure was 1/500 sec. at f-2.8 using ISO 100. I also used a Canon 12mm extension tube behind the zoom lens which allows me even closer focussing range.
