137 Cathedral Rock

Bee/Dave Henry
Cathedral Rock stands sentinel over the color in Yosemite’s Leidig Meadow. The black cottonwood trees that line the Merced River can be seen in the distance. The color in the valley isn’t great but it is there. The best oak color can be found in El Capitan meadow. This photo was made on November 3, 2010 with a Canon 24mm tilt/shift lens with 5mm rise movement on a Canon 5D MkII full frame sensor camera. The exposure was 1/125 sec. at f-9.5 using ISO 400 and a polarizing filter. For information on exposure, lighting, filters and composition, please check our Tips and Techniques section.
