San Francisco-based ZETA Communities, which has a nearly 100,000-square-foot modular home-building facility in Sacramento, today announced the groundbreaking of a 22-home "net zero energy" community in Stockton.
ZETA said the Tierra del Sol project was developed by the Stockton nonprofit Visionary Home Builders, in conjunction with San Joaquin County and ConSol, a Stockton-based residential building energy consultant.
Net zero energy - or NZE for short - homes typically have annual energy bills that are thousands of dollars less than those of standard homes.
NZE homes, which are built at ZETA's Sacramento facility, feature solar panels, low water usage fixtures, EnergyStar appliances and other energy-conserving amenities.
ZETA said the Tierra del Sol project is part of an expansion that will create 50 new jobs.
"Our factory production lines are full, we're hiring 50 additional skilled workers and we are expanding rapidly to meet current demand for housing, schools and mixed-use developments throughout the Western U.S," said Naomi Porat, CEO of ZETA.
