Jay Jay Gallery
The Sacramento region has long been known as a center for ceramic sculpture. Two shows at Jay Jay, 5520 Elvas Ave., celebrate that medium: Joe Mariscal, works from the prison series, and "Dolores' House," an exhibition of works from a local private collection, including pieces by Robert Arneson, David Gilhooly and Fred Gordon; (916) 453-2999, www.jayjayart.com.
Viewpoint Gallery
"Visions of Translucence" presents the works of local photographers Donald Satterlee, who captures the dreamy atmospheric effects of Sacramento in fog, and Dianne Poinski, who shows hand-colored black-and-white photos of exquisite flowers. The show is up at Viewpoint Gallery, 2015 J St.; (916) 441-2341 www.viewpointgallery.org.
