The California Museum today announce the 2011 inductees into the California Hall of Fame - a list of Californians chosen by Governor Brown and First Lady Anne Brown.
Astronaut Buzz Aldrin, The Beach Boys, Nobel-prize winning scientist Dr. Elizabeth Blackburn, community activist Father Gregory Boyle, entrepreneurs and philanthropists Doris and Donald Fisher, NBA great Magic Johnson, disability rights activist Ed Roberts, guitar visionary Carlos Santana, contemporary novelist Amy Tan, and social justice champion Supreme Court Justice Roger Traynor all will be honored Dec. 8 at the sixth annual induction.
The induction gala, will take place at the Sacramento Memorial Auditorium's new location at 1515 J St. and will be broadcast live by Comcast and anchored between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. by Lisa Ling.
The Auditorium in The California Museum has 3,000 seats, 500 of which are reserved balcony seats for California Hall of Fame level members of The California Museum.
The new hall-of-famers are joining 63 other members of the hall, which pays tribute to legendary contributors to California's history of greatness in a vast array of arenas.
"The California Hall of Fame is honoring ten outstanding individuals who exemplify the creative and pioneering spirit of California," Governor Brown said in a prepared statement.
