Placer County's Board of Supervisors reached an agreement Tuesday on a tax-sharing deal with the city of Roseville that clears the way for a significant expansion of the city's borders and population.
The agreement, once approved by Roseville, would allow the city to expand by 4,700 acres. The developments are expected to include 30,000 new homes over the next two decades.
The deal was unanimously approved by the board Tuesday. The Roseville City Council is expected to discuss the item in October.
The agreement will clear the way for more than $150 million in infrastructure improvements for the planned Sierra Vista and Creek View developments, and Reason Farm Environmental Preserve, according to District 1 Supervisor Jack Duran.
The agreement calls for the county to support annexation of the property by Roseville in exchange for nearly $20 million annually in property and sales tax dollars once the projects are developed.
Roseville began efforts to annex the territory needed for the new developments in 2005, but an agreement on tax sharing remained elusive.
