Elk Grove Unified students can earn more than a diploma for going to school.
Students can win a car, laptop and printer, or bicycle among a bevy of other prizes for attending classes.
The incentives are part of the district's "No Excuses Go to School" attendance campaign, now in its sixth year.
Last year, attendance in Elk Grove Unified increased enough to net the district $1.4 million in additional state and federal funding, according to district officials.
To qualify for the laptop and printer giveaway, students must have at least a month of perfect attendance. At the end of the school year, one middle school and one high school student will win a computer and printer.
One graduating senior also will win $20,000 to purchase a vehicle from the Elk Grove Auto Mall. Eligible seniors must have at least five months of perfect attendance during the school year, as well as at least a 2.0 grade-point average and turn age 18 by Dec. 1.
Elementary school students also can earn some wheels. One student from each of the district's 39 primary schools can win a bicycle and helmet. To be eligible, students must have at least one month of perfect attendance during the year.
The district also will offer monthly incentive prizes that include arcade tokens, meal certificates and other gifts donated from area businesses.
