A candlelight walk will be held Wednesday for an Elk Grove boy, 14, critically injured last week when a vehicle hit his bicycle.
Tom Mutz remains in critical condition at UC Davis Medical Center, said family friend Debbie Cunningham.
Wednesday's walk will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. at Cosumnes Oaks High School, 8350 Lotz Parkway, Elk Grove.
The family issued a written statement Monday: "Tom's injuries are very serious and the doctors are working hard. The family remains optimistic that Tom is up to the challenge and will win this battle."
Mutz was riding his bike about 3:25 p.m. Sept. 22 near Laguna Springs and Civic Center drives when he was struck.
Vigil organizer Pahla Cragg Bowers requests donations to cover medical expenses be made through EverRibbon Friends of Tom Mutz. There is a 3.5 percent fee (with 50 cent minimum) on all donations made.
