    Paul Sakuma Associated Press HE SQUASHED THE COMPETITION Leonardo Urena celebrates after his pumpkin wins the Half Moon Bay giant pumpkin contest Monday. Urena nurtured his 1,704-pound behemoth at the Napa farm where he works. At a rate of $6 a pound, he took home $10,224 in prize money. He got another $1,000 for producing the biggest California pumpkin. His gourd was 170 pounds heavier than last year's winner, but still 106 pounds short of the Wisconsin-grown world record holder.
    Ron Root of Citrus Heights won the 2010 weigh-off at the Half Moon Bay pumpkin festival with a 1,535-pound Atlantic Giant.
