Customers who shopped at Raley's, Bel Air, Nob Hill and Food Source stores on Sunday may have been double-charged if they used plastic to pay for groceries.
The West Sacramento-based chain said that there was a technical problem with transactions using debit cards, credit cards, gift cards and EBT cards that may have resulted in duplicate charges. A customer could have been charged more than once for the same amount.
"We understand how frustrating this situation is and we are deeply sorry for the inconvenience," reads a statement on Raley's webpage.
The company said it has corrected the problem. All transactions are now accurate.
Raley's said that customer personal and financial information was never at risk. The company said that they have begun a "reversal process and we are working to resolve any duplicate charges as quickly as possible."
To report any duplicate charges, Raley's requests that customers used the form at http://www.raleys.com/cfapps/receipt/index.cfm.
After filling out the form, a Raley's Service Center representative will contact the customer. The Raley's Customer Solution Squad answers calls during normal business hours at (800) 925-9989.
