Job hunters seeking opportunities with the state of California will soon be able to find job and testing information more easily.

The State Personnel Board's website, www.jobs.ca.gov, will be the new portal for all future civil service examinations and job announcements, according to the board, which announced the requirement to the governor's Cabinet, state agencies and employees in late November.

"Current state employees and the general public will now be able to search for exams and jobs at one location," read the memorandum from executive officer Suzanne Ambrose.

State hiring departments in the past hadn't been required to post on the Personnel Board's website, but those who used the website "have found it to be a useful vehicle for developing a substantial pool of qualified applicants," Ambrose said in the memo.

The State Personnel Board's website also provides information to help candidates through the state's examination and hiring process.

On a related note, job seekers can learn how to navigate the state's civil service hiring process at the Personnel Board's next lunchtime seminar.

The free seminar is from noon to 1 p.m. Dec. 28, at the board's offices, 801 Capitol Mall.

The seminar will cover job recruitments and examinations; how to complete applications-on-file; and how to read job-recruitment bulletins, as well as how to search for job vacancies and examination scores.

At the seminar, participants can also get information on the Limited Examination and Appointment Program, or LEAP. LEAP is an alternate examination for job seekers with disabilities.

Topics include certification, the state's readiness evaluation and its job examination period.
