YULETIDE OF YORE IN COLOMA
An 1850s country yuletide will be re-created from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park along Highway 49 in Coloma.
Visitors may purchase a freshly made wreath or visit the wreath-making booth and build their own. Costumed volunteers will share the art of cornhusk doll-making and vendors will offer handmade crafts.
The American River Nature Center, located in the park at 348 Highway 49, will host a candle-making event from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days. The cost is $2 per candle or three for $5. The center will have hot apple cider available, along with music, crafts and children's activities.

COLORFUL WALKIN'
The Placer Pacers Volks-sport Club of Auburn has scheduled two walks on Saturday to view Christmas decorations in Rocklin.
The start will be at Yogurt Delite in Stanford Ranch Village at Sunset Boulevard and Stanford Ranch Road. Daytime walkers may register between 8 a.m. and noon. The night walk starts between 6 and 7 p.m.
The event is free or $3 for American Volkssport Association credit.

SURVIVE IN THE SNOW
Sorenson's Resort will host a winter survival class from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at 14255 Highway 88 in Hope Valley near South Lake Tahoe.
Members of the all-volunteer Tahoe Nordic Search & Rescue Team will guide participants through an easy snowshoe and cross-country trek. Along the way they'll cover planning, preparation, proper dress, equipment, emergency shelters and more.
The fee is $25 for Sorenson's guests and $50 for others.

DAY TO LEARN SKIING
Seven North Lake Tahoe ski resorts are participating in a weekend of skiing and snowboarding lessons for beginners Saturday and Sunday.
The event costs $30 and includes an all-day beginner lift ticket, group lesson and gear rental.
Participating resorts are Sugar Bowl, Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, Granlibakken, Northstar-at-Tahoe, Boreal Mountain Resort, subject to change due to weather and mountain conditions.

STROLL AND WATERFOWL
Weekend wildlife walks at the Gray Lodge Wildlife Area Sanctuary near Gridley are available at 10 a.m. every Saturday and 1 p.m. every Sunday except Christmas Day and New Year's Day through Feb. 5.
The walk is a 0.3-mile stroll down a paved trail to an elevated viewing deck where there are views of snow geese and other overwintering wildlife.
Tours, which are included with the $4.32 cost of a day pass, are canceled on days when there is heavy rain.
