The Oakland A's announced today that the team will play an exhibition game against its Triple-A affiliate Sacramento River Cats at Raley Field on March 31.

The announcement was made in a news release by the A's that includes its 2012 spring training schedule. The A's will play a shortened Cactus League schedule of 21 games beginning March 2 against the Seattle Mariners at Phoenix Municipal Stadium, spring home of the A's.

The schedule is shorter because The A's will fly to Japan on March 22 and open the regular season with a two-game set at the Tokyo Dome against the Mariners on March 28-29. The A's will fly back to the Bay Area on the March 30 and play at Raley Field the following night for the first time since 2007.

The A's then will play their annual three-game Bay Bridge exhibition series against the San Francisco Giants on April 2-4. The Giants host Games 1 and 3 with Game 2 at the O.co Coliseum.
