There's still time to indulge in some prehistoric fun. "Dinosaurs Unearthed" will be on display through Jan. 1 at Lawrence Hall of Science at the University of California, Berkeley.

The exhibit, which opened May 28, features gigantic animals that open their jaws, blink their eyes and move their limbs. Several life-size dinosaurs actually roar and stomp.

A special exhibition area with activities designed for visitors ages 2 to 7 features a dino dig site, a climb-in dino nest and a take-home activity.

The exhibit is closed today but will be open from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. daily. For more information, go to www.lawrencehallofscience.org.

Welcome the 'noon year'

The Bay Area Discovery Museum invites children of all ages to attend its Noon Year's Eve Party from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday in Sausalito.

Participants will count down to noon, watch the ball drop in Festival Plaza, dance along to DJ music and create a party hat to celebrate the Noon Year.

The party is free with admission, which is $11 or free for infants ages 6 months and younger. The museum is located at Fort Baker, within the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.

The World Travelers Slide and Image Club will virtually visit France and Jordan Jan. 1.

Join them at 6 p.m. for "France" and 7 p.m. for "Independent Travel in Northern Jordan."

The event will be at Eskaton Monroe Lodge, 3225 Freeport Blvd., Sacramento.

For more information, call (916) 961-8405.

Photo project

Photography buffs may want to journey to the National Steinbeck Center in Salinas to see the Mission San Antonio de Padua exhibition by photographer Al Weber, who has taught more than 10,000 students in workshops and classrooms throughout the West.

In keeping with the tradition of the two previous projects and exhibitions, Mission Soledad (2007) and Mission San Miguel (2009), the exhibit features a portfolio of 52 photographs of Mission San Antonio de Padua; including a 10-minute video documentary of the project compiled by photographer Anthony Mournian.

The exhibit, which will be on display through March 2, may be viewed from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily except Christmas and New Year's Day. The center, located at 1 Main St. in Salinas, will close at 3 p.m. Saturday.

For more information, go to www.steinbeck.org.

Light show at the zoo

The holiday spirit will extend through New Year's Day at the Oakland Zoo's ZooLights exhibit.

Highlights include a Candy Cane Lane rides area, the Outback Express Train and a meadow light show orchestrated by Impact Lighting.

ZooLights is closed today but will be open from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Monday through Jan. 1. Admission prices are $7.50 for adults and $5.50 for children. Oakland Zoo members receive a $1 discount. In the event of inclement weather, ZooLights may be closed. For information, visit www.oaklandzoo.org.
