Cities and counties throughout the Sacramento region are encouraging residents to recycle Christmas trees through curbside pickups or scheduled drop-off events.
Only natural, unflocked trees are accepted. To prepare a tree for recycling:
Remove trees from stands or plastic bags.
Remove ornaments, lights, nails, tinsel and metal rod supports from trees.
For curbside pickup, cut trees longer than 6 feet into pieces 3 feet or shorter.
Information is available on most city, county or utility district websites.
