Volunteers interested in helping California's wildlife and habitats are being sought in the Sacramento area.
The Natural Resource Volunteer Program, managed by the California Department of Fish and Game, was started in 2010. A training academy in the Sacramento area will begin in February.
Volunteers have no law enforcement authority. They are trained to be educational ambassadors, donating their time responding to incident calls, attending community outreach events, providing information to the public, patrolling wildlife areas, and providing administrative support.
Training will take place on weekdays only. Participation requires an initial screening, application, interview and background check. Participants attend an 80-hour conservation course. Graduates must commit to serve at least 24 hours per month, starting with a six-month probationary period.

• Don't use all capital letters. That's akin to yelling and not appreciated by the audience.
• Don't flag other users' comments just because you don't agree with their point of view. Please only flag comments that violate these guidelines.
