Sacramento area remains stuck in dry weather pattern

A mainly dry weather pattern will prevail this week in Northern California with daytime temperatures above normal.

High temperatures today are expected to be in 60s in the Central Valley and in the 40s and 50s in the Sierra Nevada, according to the National Weather Service.

Looking ahead to the three-day Martin Luther King Jr. weekend: sunny skies are predicted Saturday through Monday. No rain is in the forecast.

However, weather forecasters are looking far ahead to when a change may occur. A moisture-laden jet stream could dip into Northern California next week.

The forecast for the Sacramento region:

Today: Patchy fog before 10am. Patchy frost before 10am. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 63. Light north northwest wind.

Tonight: Areas of frost after 4am. Otherwise, mostly clear, with a low around 34. Light north northwest wind.

Thursday: Areas of frost before 10am. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 64. North northwest wind between 3 and 7 mph.

Thursday night: Areas of frost after 4am. Otherwise, clear, with a low around 33. Light north northwest wind.

Friday: Areas of frost before 10am. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 64. Light north wind.

Friday night: Patchy fog after 10pm. Patchy frost after 10pm. Otherwise, mostly clear, with a low around 32.

Saturday: Patchy fog before 10am. Patchy frost before 10am. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 63.

Saturday night: Patchy fog after 10pm. Otherwise, partly cloudy, with a low around 34.

Sunday: Patchy fog before 10am. Otherwise, mostly sunny, with a high near 59.

Sunday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 35.

M.L.King Day: Mostly sunny, with a high near 55.

Monday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 37.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 52.
