Crime rarely occurs at Sacramento International Airport, given that nine million passengers use SMF each year, making this week's Taser incident an anomaly.
Airport passengers and businesses reported 135 crimes during the first 11 months of last year, or about 1.5 crimes per 100,000 passengers, sheriff's data show.
Rental car companies reporting customers not returning vehicles accounted for the most crimes, followed by other types of theft. Deputies took 14 reports of people allegedly possessing weapons at the airport, à la Tim Donnelly.
This chart shows the breakdown of crimes reported to the sheriff's department at Sacramento airport from January through November 2011.
