e.l.f. may have the substitute

DEAR SHOPPPING: I use a lipliner and lipstick, both applied with a brush. BeneFit has made a combo liner/brush, but it appears that is no longer available. (The liner is the twist-out kind, not the pencil sharpener variety.) I have looked at ULTA and Rite-Aid, but neither carries anything to replace the BeneFit product, and Lancôme only makes a pencil-sharpener liner. Any ideas?

– Ellen, Sacramento DEAR ELLEN: e.l.f. (eyes, lip, face) cosmetics' Studio Lip Liner and Blending Brush would make a great substitute. It's a smooth-gliding roll-up pencil (no sharpener) with a blending brush. It comes in six colors at only $3 each. For $18 you probably could replace one of your more costly pencils with six! Find them at www.eyeslipface.com. Order today and you qualify for reduced shipping.

Another option is Rimmel's full color lip liner for $6.49. It comes in seven shades and is an excellent liner. The only drawback? No brush. It's available at ULTA and most drugstores and discount stores.

One more: Mary Kay debuted a new liner that's retractable and comes with a built-in shaper in the cap. It comes in eight shades at $12 each. You can order it through a Mary Kay representative or online at www.marykay.com.

DEAR SHOPPING: I lost the website information to order the "feminine" version of Udder Balm. Can you repeat it in one of your Sunday columns please?

– Evelyn, Sacramento DEAR EVELYN: I thought there was only one version of Udder Balm! The company says folks make the common mistake of calling it "utter balm" or "utter cream." It's available online at, what else?, www.originaludderbalm. com.

Prices range from $7 for a 4-ounce tube to $85 for a case of four 4-pound tubs. That's if you've got a major case of dry skin.

Just be sure you get the blue-and-white label with a cow. That's the original.
